The firm
Small by design.
Thornbury works on slate, clay tile and copper roofs, and nothing else. It is a small firm by design: one estimator who draws every roof, two installation crews, and a sheet-metal shop for the copper.
We work for owners directly and alongside architects and builders on new houses. On historic roofs we repair before we replace, and we say so in writing when a roof has decades left.
Crews speak English and Spanish.

Stewardship
The roof will outlast us. So we write it down.
Every roof closes with a bound record and a crate of matched spares in the attic, so a broken slate in twenty years is replaced with one from the same lot.
